Abstract

"Her Yerde Kendim”: Türlerarası İlişkiler Bağlamında Sait Faik Abasıyanık’ın Şiir ve Hikâyeleri

Although literary genres are known for their rules, boundaries and elements reckoned indispensable, they experience fractures, stretch and change with the ongoing transformative effect of the ages. Emerging art approaches have led to renewals in genre theory along with modernity. Various types of texts, produced out of pens sometimes by the same author and sometimes by different authors, show similarities through their elements and oppurtunities, by interacting. In particular, poetry, with its aspects that arouse aesthetic pleasure in transmission, affects other literary genres, especially stories. The story, on the other hand, with its narrative method and basic principles, creates a richness of expression in poetry. While the poem contains a story that fades with images and symbols behind its lines, the story, basing on its dense and multi-layered meaning structure, can also approach poetry. Sait Faik Abasıyanık, who is one of the first names coming to mind when mentioning about stories in New Turkish literature, emphasizes himself in a way to create partnerships in his poems and stories. The theme, image, place and person sameness reveals that there is a transitivity between poetry and stories. Sait Faik Abasıyanık's literary background, his life, his way of feeling and understanding are evident in his poems and stories. Although the genres are different, the works of the author can be perceived as parts of a whole. Thus, it will be significant to examine his poems and stories in the context of inter-genre relations in order for Sait Faik Abasıyanık's literature to become clear with all its borders.
