Ahmet Rasim is one of the important writers who served Turkish culture and literature for 48 years with his works and journalistic activities. He wrote various kinds of works such as poetry, stories, novels, articles, letters, prose poems, memoirs, anecdotes, conversations, monographs, travel writings, dictionaries, translations, criticisms, and wrote school books and scientific works. The author was active in many of the magazines and newspapers published in the during the second Abdulhamit Period, the second Period of Legitimacy, the Armistice and the National Struggle Period, and the Republican Period, he came to the fore with his journalist identity. Ahmet Rasim wrote articles about the domestic and foreign politics of the period and organized trips to the country and abroad to follow the political developments closely. He was in Sofia in 1908, when Bulgaria declared its independence. In 1909 he went on a trip to Austria-Hungary. In 1912, he went to Edirne as the war correspondent of Sabah newspaper and followed the developments on the Bulgarian front. During the First World War (1914-1918), he was sent to Syria and Palestine by the Intelligence Society to follow the Egyptian expedition. The author also found it on the Romanian and Caucasian front. During this period, he worked as a war correspondent for Tasfir-i Efkâr newspaper. There has been no serious study on the war correspondent of Ahmet Rasim, one of the important figures of our literature and press history, and his writing activities in this process. In this study, Ahmet Rasim's duties during the Balkan Wars and World War I, war correspondent and writing activities were evaluated. Events and situations that stand out in Ahmet Rasim's observations and determinations; his letters, articles, memoirs, anecdotes, telegrams and travel writings published during and after the war was emphasized. These articles, sent by the author from different regions, contain detailed information that can be the subject of separate studies and have a rich content. One of the aims of this study is to open doors for different studies and to provide resources.

Ahmet Rasim, eserleri ve gazetecilik faaliyetleriyle 48 yıl boyunca Türk kültür ve edebiyatına hizmet eden önemli yazarlardan biridir. Şiir, hikâye, roman, makale, mektup, mensur şiir, anı, fıkra, sohbet, monografi, seyahat yazısı, sözlük, çeviri, eleştiri gibi çeşitli türde eserler vermiş, okul kitapları ve bilimsel eserler kaleme almıştır. Yazar, “II. Abdülhamit Dönemi”, “II. Meşrutiyet Dönemi”, “Mütareke ve Millî Mücadele Dönemi” ile “Cumhuriyet Dönemi”nde yayımlanan dergi ve gazetelerin pek çoğunda faaliyet göstermiş, gazeteci kimliğiyle öne çıkmıştır. Ahmet Rasim dönemin iç ve dış siyasetiyle ilgili yazılar kaleme almış, siyasî gelişmeleri yakından takip etmek için yurt içine ve yurt dışına geziler düzenlemiştir. 1908 yılında, Bulgaristan’ın bağımsızlığını ilan ettiği sıralarda Sofya’da bulunmuştur. 1909’da Avusturya-Macaristan seyahatine çıkmıştır. 1912’de Sabah gazetesinin savaş muhabiri olarak Edirne’ye gitmiş, Bulgar cephesindeki gelişmeleri takip etmiştir. I. Dünya Savaşı (1914-1918) sıralarında İstihbarat Cemiyeti tarafından Mısır seferini takip etmek üzere Suriye ve Filistin topraklarına gönderilmiştir. Yazar, Romanya ve Kafkasya cephesinde de bulmuştur. Bu süreçte Tasfir-i Efkâr gazetesinin harp muhabiri olarak görev yapmıştır. Edebiyat ve matbuat tarihimizin önemli figürlerinden biri olan Ahmet Rasim’in savaş muhabirliği ve bu süreçteki yazı faaliyetleri üzerine ciddî bir çalışma yapılmamıştır. Bu çalışma ile Ahmet Rasim’in Balkan Savaşları ve I. Dünya Savaşı sırasındaki görevleri, savaş muhabirliği ve yazı faaliyetleri değerlendirilmiştir. Ahmet Rasim’in gözlem ve tespitlerinde öne çıkan olay ve durumlar, savaş sırasında ve savaş sonrasında yayınlanan mektup, makale, anı, fıkra, telgraf ve seyahat yazıları üzerinde durulmuştur. Yazarın farklı bölgelerden gönderdiği bu yazılar ayrı ayrı çalışmalara konu olabilecek ayrıntılı bilgiler içermektedir ve zengin bir içeriğe sahiptir. Bu çalışmanın amaçlarından biri de farklı çalışmalara kapılar aralamak ve kaynak sağlamaktır.
